Man divorces wife when he saw her without makeup for the first time

MAN DIVORCES WIFE WHEN HE SAW HER WITHOUT MAKEUP FOR THE FIRST TIME

An African man has divorced his wife on their honeymoon a few days after their wedding because she was not what he thought she was.

According to a psychologist who counseled the woman, the groom broke up with her after seeing her without makeup on for the first time ever.

It was disclosed that the 45-year-old groom and the 35-year-old bride went to a hotel for their honeymoon where they eventually had to go for a swim. This turned out to be catastrophic because the bride’s makeup washed away and the man could see his new wife in a new light. The psychologist, who was employed to help the woman get through the sudden divorce, said the wife did not look as pretty as she did before the wedding and he accused her of deceiving him with the use of excessive makeup including false eyelashes. The couple, who met on Facebook were engaged for three months. Do you think it was fair of him to divorce her over her use of makeup?

Nigerian troops find kidnapped Chibok schoolgirl with baby

Nigerian troops find kidnapped Chibok schoolgirl with baby

A recently rescued Nigerian Chibok girl with her child at a local Nigerian government council house in Maiduguri, Nigeria, Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016.

Nigeria's army says it has rescued one of the Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram Islamic extremists more than two years ago in a raid on a forest hideout.

Spokesman Col. Sani Kukasheka Usman said Saturday the schoolgirl was found with a baby boy born to an extremist.
It was the first army rescue of a Chibok girl. Nigeria's government last month secured the freedom of 21 of the Chibok schoolgirls in the first such release negotiated with Boko Haram. Another girl escaped from captivity in May.
Some 276 girls were seized from a school in northeastern Chibok town in April 2014. Dozens quickly escaped.
Officials have vowed to secure the release of nearly 200 who remain captive.

Mimiko’s aides resign, join APC

Two Special Assistants to Gov. Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, on Wednesday, resigned their appointments and defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that those who resigned are Mrs Aderonke Morolayo, Special Assistant on Political Matters and Mr Victor Ojo, Special Assistant on Mobilisation.
In her letter of resignation dated Nov. 2, 2016 and addressed to the governor, Morolayo said, “this is to formally inform Your Excellency of my resignation from the government of Ondo State due to circumstances beyond my control.
“Your Excellency, let me also use this medium to thank and appreciate you for counting me worthy to serve the good people of Ondo State in this capacity.’’
She, however, informed the governor that his decision to have his successor from the Central Senatorial District, where he hailed from, would make Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to lose the Nov. 26 governorship poll.
NAN reports that Morolayo and Ojo on Wednesday formally declared their membership of the APC.
A statement by the APC’s Publicity Secretary in the state, Mr Abayomi Adesanya, said the two politicians were received into the party by the deputy governorship candidate in the forthcoming election, Mr Agboola Ajayi.
The statement said that the two new members had pledged to work for the success of APC in the election.
It stated that Ajayi assured the defectors of equal opportunities and urged them to work assiduously for the party’s victory and progress in the state.

Bridge linking Kwara with Oyo collapses again

kwara-oyo-bridge

Economic and social activities of residents of Kwara and Oyo states were on Wednesday grounded following the collapse of Moro bridge on llorin-lgbeti highway linking the two states.
The member representing Owode-Onire constituency in the state House of Assembly where the collapsed bridge is located, Abdullahi Taiwo, informed the House of the collapsed bridge during Wednesday’s plenary.
Taiwo, who was speaking under matter of urgent public importance, said the collapsed bridge had made transportation of farm produce to llorin, the state capital difficult.
He stressed the need for urgent construction of the bridge in view of its importance for transportation of food items and passengers from Oyo state and neighbouring Republic of Benin.
Members, who contributed to the debate including the House Leader, stressed the significance of the collapsed bridge constructed with corrugated iron several years ago by the military engineering corps.
The Deputy Speaker, Mathew Okedare, who presided over plenary, while reading the resolution of the House, directed its Committee on Energy, Works and Transport to liaise with the Federal Ministry of of Works on the reconstruction of the bridge.
The House called on the Kwara Government to put palliative measures in place before the reconstruction by the Federal Government.
Reacting, the Federal Controller of Works in Kwara, Mr Omotayo Awosanya told NAN that the Federal Government had advertised the construction of both the Moro and Ohan bridges.
Awosanya said work would soon commence on the two bridges which he noted had already been captured at the 2016 budget

Woman, 3 sons, 2 neighbours die ‘after eating amala’ in Kogi

Woman, 3 sons, 2 neighbours die ‘after eating amala’ in Kogi

No fewer than six people, including a mother, her three sons and two of their neighbours, on Tuesday, died in Ogaminana area of Okene, Kogi State, after eating amala meal made from cassava flour
Three of the deceased were said to have died on Monday, while the remaining three died on quick succession at the Okene General Hospital.
The Public Relations Officer of the Adavi Local Government, Mr Abdulhamid Salahudeen, who informed news men about the incident, said the first set of the victims died in their house.
He put the ages of the dead five children at between 9 and 15 years, while the age of
the female adult victim, the mother could not be ascertained.
Salaudeen said that the mother had, on Sunday, brought  the cassava flour (white amala, popularly called lafun) from her farmland at Ohuepe village, which is about 30-minute drive from Ogaminana.
He said that the woman prepared dinner from the yam flour for herself and other members of the family, while she also gave her  neighbours part of the food.
It was gathered that the woman and two of her sons were the first to die as they developed severe  stomach pain over the night which later resulted in their death.
Salaudeen, however, added that neighbours who sensed that the sudden deaths may be due to the cassava flour dinner quickly rushed the remaining three children that ate the food to Okene General Hospital, where they died between Sunday and Tuesday afternoon.
According to him, the management of the said the local government believed that the cassava flour was poisoned.
He also said the incident had been reported to the police for proper investigation.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), William Anya, could not confirm the incident as he said the command was yet to be briefed.

corps members and military training

I recently read an opinion article online stating that those doing their youth service should be made to undergo military training, especially in gun handling, and when there is an insurgency or war in the country, such youths should be drafted to fight alongside the regular soldiers. The believe of the writer is that ‘graduate’ reservists will be more tactical on the war front, and as a result, there will be less loss of lives as we experienced while the Boko haram insurgency was at its peak.

The writer of the article cited the case of Israel, where there are regular soldiers, as well as reservists, who are civilians but have had military training, and whenever there is war, they are called up for military service. Apart from Israel, there are also other Western countries practising this military system.

However, I totally want to disagree with the writer of this article that this cannot work in Nigeria for certain reasons.

First, the countries that have reservists are countries with small populations, and when there is a huge war on their hands, they call-up their reservists to join the war. Nigeria has a huge population, and as such, we can maintain a huge military, so there is no need to call up reserve soldiers during war.
Secondly, those countries that use this type of military arrangement have good economies; in the last Israeli war against the Palestinians, I was surprised that some of the reservists were medical doctors, teachers, nurses, and even businessmen, and after the war, they return to their civilian life.
This cannot be said about Nigeria where there is huge unemployment crisis; at the moment, highly-educated unemployed youths are responsible for more than half of the crimes being perpetrated in the country.
So if our youths are now trained to handle guns like soldiers, then it would make it easier for them to start armed robbery ‘business’ as soon as they finish their service year and could not get jobs.
